Test Preparation Basics
On test day, you cannot have all your hard work go down the drain. The best preparation (and the best way to avoid anxiety) is to study hard and know all the material you need to know.
Full Test Preparation
- Study Hard. We’ll say it over and over again.
- Keep a positive attitude. Some people do not know that the way to prepare for any test in life is to stay positive. Say positive things about yourself and your abilities. Catch yourself if you are talking negatively and saying negative things. Say positive things to yourself, then you will say them to others.
- Use visualization. Visualize yourself at the end of the test having worked hard and done well. Visualize how you will achieve this. Visualize a fine score on your test. What number is it? What will it look like?

Let Anxiety be on Your Side
Consider anxiety a message. You do need to listen to that message and respond to it-- not run from it. Don’t avoid the anxiety through any unhealthy means. Especially, stay away from alcohol, drugs or procrastination. You will do well in the long run if you learn to face the anxiety head on and use it to motivate you. If you work hard to prepare yourself by studying hard, this will give you the stress relief that comes with tiredness and with knowing that you are doing your best.Test Preparation and Stress Management
If you have a personal method of dealing with stress (for example, through prayer, the practice of yoga or other spiritual exercise), then be sure to stay disciplined, especially in the days leading up to the test and the day of the test. Controlling over-stimulation and monitoring your body are the basis of all spiritual disciplines. All of these methods rely on closing your eyes and breathing steadily. These two things are the basics of any stress management program. It is impossible to over-prepare for a test. Click on links nearby if you are considering a disciplined test preparation method.
