Admission Requirements for Online Degree Programs
To be a good online learner, you must (of course) have a familiarity with the internet and the use of web applications. You must also have technological capabilities to access online learning materials. These would include:
- at least a 56K modem
- capability to use streaming video and audio
- familiarity with the use of forums and chat rooms
You also must have the ability to learn independently and commit a significant amount of time to degree course work. You may be required to meet your professor(s) once or twice per semester, so close proximity to the university is often a consideration when people choose to learn online. Most people who do learn online (or by correspondence) choose a university within a half hour of their home. They still like to take advantage of the independence and flexibility that is available with online education.
We also have information on the many universities that are entirely online, and the many online degree programs offered by accredited online colleges and universities.
